Seminar: How to Successfully Cool High-Density IT Hardware

We are hosting a seminar on “How to Successfully Cool High-Density IT Hardware” on the 17th and 18th January 2008 in Dublin, Ireland.

This is the first time an Uptime Institute seminar has been delivered in Europe and provides an excellent opportunity to learn industry best practise.

This essential and informative seminar will be delivered by the The Uptime Institutes Dr. Robert Sullivan. As you already are aware, Dr Sullivan is the man who invented the industry standard “Hot-Aisle/Cold-Aisle” server lay-out and was also part of the team who identified the problems of Zinc Whiskers in the data centre.

Dr Sullivan is regarded as one of the leading experts in the world of Data Centre management and his seminars are a “must” for all Data Centre Professionals.

Who should attend?

Anyone involved in the management and maintenance of data centres and server rooms will find this seminar invaluable.

Why attend?

The solutions suggested by The Uptime Institute to the problems of cooling high-density hardware have been demonstrated to have significant effects on the elimination of hot spots and the successful cooling of data centres. This in turn results in far less equipment downtime or total failure, and saves considerable sums of money for any organisation which relies on its data centre or server rooms.
This seminar also provides an excellent opportunity to network with your peers from across Europe.

Structure of Seminar

  • An introduction to the Uptime Institute.
  • Executive Summary of where the industry is headed, what it means to users, and the best practices that need to be employed to take advantage of the new technologies.
  • Expanded information on power projections and best practices for implementation in new facilities.
  • Best practices for cooling today’s equipment and future generations of high density computer equipment
  • Q&A session with delegates and Dr Sullivan
  • Uptime Institute CPD certificate for all attendees
  • Networking opportunities after each day.
  • Full three-course lunch provided each day.

How to Manage Your Data Centre

June 20th, 2007

David Cuthbertson of Square Mile Systems presented a thought provoking presentation on how to implement best practise management procedures within your Data Centre.

He then goes on to show, that currently there is no recognised framework or training for Data Centre Managers and that instead Data Centres Managers have to rely on Trade Associations such as AFCOM, The Data Centre Specialist Group and The Uptime Institute.

He then goes on to explain how the new TIA 942 framework can help give structure and guidance to Data Centre Managers.

For those who could not attend this presentation given at the BICSI Conference, held in Citywest, Dublin, Ireland, 2007 the presentation documentation can be downloaded.

Guide to Data Centre Reliability and Data Centre Scalability

June 20th, 2007

Jeff Paliga gave a very topical discussion on the current need for all Data Centre senior managers to focus on the growth rate of Data Centres and how Reliability and Scalability need to be planned at the very start of any project.

His presentation shows the 60% of CIO/CTO’s say they greatest challenge they face is Driving Growth / Innovation while trying to manage costs and that 39% of an IT Managers time is spent trouble shooting their Data Centre.

How Cabinets help with Thermal Management in the Data Centre

June 20th, 2007

Brian Donowho gave a talk about how cabinets influence the thermal dynamics of the data centre.

He showed how Koldlok Brush Grommets, reduce bypass airflow (information on Koldlok Guide part 1 and Koldloks Guide part 2) and then explained how his range of Water Cooled Cabinets can help reduce the heat in your data centre.

for those of you who could not make it to the BICSI conference held in Citywest, Dublin, Ireland. The full presentation can be downloaded here.
